Who We Are
The women behind Northwest Ohio Birth Services
Placenta Encapsulation Specialist
Jennifer has been researching the childbearing year for as long as she can remember. Along the way she became a licensed massage therapist in 2003, and a Birth Doula (through DONA International) in 2006. In 2011, while attaining her Associates in Medical Assisting, she realized she wanted to help parents-to-be in a more personal way. One that would help them be more autonomous and in charge. She did more research, and started apprenticing with a CPM in July of 2012.
In August of 2013, just two months after graduating from the University of Northwest Ohio, she entered the 3 year Community Program at Birthwise Midwifery School, in Bridgton, Maine. Jennifer became a Direct-Entry Midwife upon graduating from Birthwise on June 10,2017. She passed the NARM exam, and became a CPM, in July of 2018.
In her words, "The midwifery brings some unique aspects to my doula work. Since I no longer choose to be certified, I am able to incorporate some of what I have learned through my training, to help parents choose the best time to go to the hospital, or call the midwife as the case may be, while still remaining safe." When hired as a Doula, I DO NOT stay home and catch your baby. If you would like home birth services, please contact me so we can discuss your situation.
When not studying and attending home or hospital births, Jennifer lives outside of Cloverdale, OH, and spends what little free time she has studying, sewing, collecting items from the 1800s, and spending time with friends & family.
