The women behind Northwest Ohio Birth Services

Meet Jennifer

I have been researching the childbearing year for as long as I can remember. I became a licensed massage therapist in 2003 and a Birth Doula (through DONA International) in 2006. In 2011, while attaining my Associates in Medical Assisting, I realized I wanted to help parents-to-be in a more personal way. One that would help them be more autonomous and in charge. I did more research and started apprenticing with a CPM in July of 2012.

In August of 2013, just two months after graduating from the University of Northwest Ohio, I entered the Community Program at Birthwise Midwifery School, in Bridgton, Maine. I started working as a Direct-Entry Midwife the year before graduating from Birthwise in June 2017, then sat for and passed the NARM CPM exam in July 2018.

"Midwifery brings some unique aspects to my doula work. Since I no longer choose to be certified, I am able to incorporate some of what I have learned through my training, to help parents choose the best time to go to the hospital, or call the midwife as the case may be, while still remaining safe." When hired as a Doula, I DO NOT stay home and catch your baby. If you would like home birth services, please contact me so we can discuss your situation.

When not studying and attending home or hospital births, Jennifer lives in the Findlay, OH area, and spends what little free time she has studying, sewing, collecting items from the 1800s, and spending time with friends & family.

Meet Thalia

Hello my name is Thalia! I ama birth doula, a postpartum doula, working towards becoming a certified monitrice, a midwife's assistant and a student midwife. I am a wife and mother to two amazing daughters. After being able to experience giving birth in the hospital, with my first daughter, and at home, with my second daughter,  I had a strong feeling that birth work was where I belonged.

I enjoy working with families educating them about their rights and choices as parents and preparing them for labor, birth and the postpartum period. I believe that every mama should be celebrated and accompanied by a village helping her through her transition into motherhood whether it's her first or seventh child!

When not engaging in birth work I usually spend my time loving on and catering to my family, trying out different recipes in the kitchen, indulging in books, or studying scriptures from my bible while enjoying a warm cup of tea.
